Joint Pain

  • Includes: Arthritis, stiffness and swelling

Arthritis can occur from a young age, but does not necessarily mean a restricted lifestyle is required. It occurs as the result of damage (traumatic, overuse, or insidious) to the protective cartilage which lines the ends of bones at a joints interface. As a consequence, bone is exposed, it becomes inflamed and can cause pain, swelling, stiffness and in the more severe cases, malformation to the joint.

Physio can be of great benefit by advising you on exercises to help maintain strength in the muscles that support the affected joint, providing pain relief, and helping to maintain/restore joint motion.
